About the Founders, Joan & Larry Marks

The Heart Behind Three Little Pigs BBQ

The story of Three Little Pigs BBQ Rubs & Sauces begins with the passion, determination, and competitive spirit of Larry and Joan Marks, pioneers in the world of competition barbecue and longtime supporters of the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) community.

Larry Marks helped build the foundation of what would become one of the most successful competition barbecue teams in the country. Alongside his wife Joan, the couple dedicated countless hours to perfecting flavors, refining techniques, and chasing the dream of championship barbecue. Their journey was defined by experimentation, precision, and a relentless pursuit of excellence on the competition circuit.

Following Larry’s passing in 1997, Joan continued the journey and honored Larry’s legacy by designing a special Three Little Pigs label in 1998. That label became a symbol of their shared passion for barbecue and the spirit of the team they built together

Today, as we celebrate over 20 years of producing award-winning BBQ rubs and sauces, that legacy continues.

The Puff-N-Huff Label Returns

In honor of Joan and Larry’s contribution to barbecue, the new Puff-N-Huff All-Natural BBQ Sauce label proudly brings back the original design created by Joan Marks in 1998.

The label represents more than packaging — it represents the history of the Three Little Pigs BBQ Team, the friendships built in the KCBS community, and the pursuit of championship flavor that started decades ago.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

While the trophies, championships, and awards tell part of the story, the true legacy of Joan and Larry Marks lives on through the people, partnerships, and passion that continue to define the Three Little Pigs brand.

From backyard cooks to world-class pitmasters, our mission remains the same:

To provide championship-quality BBQ rubs and sauces that bring people together around great barbecue.

Every bottle and every rub is produced in honor of the foundation Joan and Larry built and the BBQ community that continues to inspire us.

Their legacy lives on every time the smoke rolls.
